Window Security Grilles
Rolling grilles provide excellent security and visibility. While not quite the vision of a Transparoll shutter, they are not near the
Transparoll investment either. Alulux window security grilles are often used for interior kiosks or partitions where "shutter down" visibility is desired.
QMI has been an Alulux "Specialist Dealer" for window security grilles in the United States. QMI is the only Specialist Dealer in
the United States. Alulux is a German company with a long history of quality engineering and design and is the industry leader in Europe. QMI was selected
because of its North American network of installers and expertise in both the commercial and residential security grilles and window security gates.

Loss prevention solutions with merchandising in mind
Alulux security grilles may be mounted either on the interior or exterior surface of the storefront glazing.
Some cities have ordinances requiring 70% openness on window security gates and grilles. New York City has such an ordinance to
reduce the surface area available for graffiti. Recently, a national pharmacy chain serviced by QMI expanded into New York City
and could not use the perforated or solid QMI shutter systems due to this new requirement. The Alulux CD900 was the perfect
solution for this application, even though the rolling grilles were mounted to the inside of the storefront. The first goal
in retail security is to deter intruders from even attempting a break in. Interior mounted window security gates provide an
additional layer of effort a criminal does not want. Often, to enter a store with interior mounted shutters, the glass must
be broken, thus setting off the alarm and immediately limiting the amount of time an intruder has to make the theft.
The window security grilles, however, create another barrier to the merchandise which will take much longer than just breaking glass.
If it will take a burglar more than 2 to 3 minutes to enter a store, grab the merchandise, and get away, they won’t even try.
If you view the Apple Store Smash and Grab video
, you see the burglars break the glass and steal more than $25,000 of merchandise in just 31 seconds. The security guard cowers
away (smartly) and the store is wiped clean. No window security gates or rolling grilles are used to protect that store. Do you
believe those 4 burglars would have even attempted this break in if an additional layer of security existed with QMI security grilles?
Recently, one of QMI’s customers added storefront security grilles after suffering from 4 break ins in their first 4 months of operation.
It’s now been more than 18 months now and they have not even had an attempted break in.
